ROBOTILL Version 9.28 is now available!
The main focus of this release is a significant improvement to stock taking. Version 9.28 introduces a new Physical Count method that makes it much easier to count stock as you actually find it — especially when working with compound items, packs, boxes and individual units.
There are also improvements to cash drawer behaviour and new options to control what information employees can see in the POS applications.
New Physical Count Stocktake
Previously, stock taking in ROBOTILL worked by setting the quantity of an item to a specific amount. This works well when correcting stock levels, but it can make a full physical stocktake more complicated when the same stock exists in different units.
For example, suppose you sell bottled water as:
- Individual bottles
- Six-packs containing 6 bottles
- Boxes containing 24 bottles
You might physically count 2 six-packs, 2 loose bottles and 1 box.
With the new Full Stocktake in Version 9.28, you simply enter the stock exactly as you find it. There is no need to manually convert everything to bottles before entering your count.
ROBOTILL will calculate:
2 six-packs = 12 bottles
2 loose bottles = 2 bottles
1 box = 24 bottles
That gives a total physical stock level of 38 bottles.
ROBOTILL then uses that total to calculate the available quantities of the related compound items.
This makes a full stocktake much more natural: you count what is physically in front of you and ROBOTILL does the calculations.
Three Ways to Adjust or Count Stock
Version 9.28 now provides three options depending on what you need to do.
Quick Stock Adjustment is ideal when you simply want to count or correct an individual item. Scan or enter the product, enter the correct quantity, and the stock level is updated immediately.
Stock Level Review allows you to review a list of current stock levels and change only the quantities that are incorrect. Changes are also applied immediately.
Both of these options use the traditional Set Quantity Method. The quantity entered becomes the new stock quantity, and quantities for related compound items are recalculated.
Full Stocktake uses the new Physical Count Method. Select the products you want to count, start the stocktake, and then count products exactly as you find them. Stock levels are only changed when you select Complete Stock Take, at which point ROBOTILL combines the counts and calculates the final stock quantities.
Smarter Cash Drawer Control
The cash drawer will now only open when it is actually required.
If a sale contains a payment method that includes cash, the drawer will open as usual. It will also open when change needs to be given.
For payments where no cash is involved and no change is required, the cash drawer will remain closed.
This is particularly useful for businesses processing card, account and other cashless payments.
Hide Stock Quantities in POS Apps
Version 9.28 adds an option to hide stock quantities in the POS applications.
Some businesses need cashiers or other POS users to select and sell products but do not necessarily want those employees to see the current stock quantities.
You can now choose whether this information should be visible.
Hide Product Cost in POS Apps
There is also a new option to hide product cost in the POS applications.
This gives businesses more control over which employees can see sensitive product cost information while still allowing them to perform their normal POS functions.

ROBOTILL Version 9.28 continues our focus on making everyday tasks simpler while giving business owners greater control over their POS system.
The improved stocktake is the highlight of this release. For businesses that stock the same product as individual items, packs, cases or other compound units, the new Physical Count method should make a full stocktake considerably easier:
