ROBOTILL Version 9.25 Released

ROBOTILL version 9.25 has been released and is now available for download.

Unlike many of our previous updates, this release does not introduce a large number of visible new features. Instead, it focuses on important technology upgrades that ensure ROBOTILL remains secure, reliable, and supported for many years to come.

New Database Setup Wizard

The most noticeable change in version 9.25 is a completely new Database Setup Wizard.
The new wizard is easier to use, more robust, and significantly improves the installation experience—especially for new installations.

As part of this update, the wizard now installs SQL Server 2022 by default.

Updated .NET Framework

To keep ROBOTILL aligned with current and future Windows platforms, version 9.25 now runs on the latest .NET Framework (4.8.1).

This upgrade ensures:

  • Improved performance

  • Better security

  • Long-term Microsoft support

  • Compatibility with newer versions of Windows

These changes are largely behind the scenes, but they are essential for the stability and longevity of the software.

SQL Server 2022 as the New Default

Previous versions of ROBOTILL installed SQL Server 2014 by default. While it was possible to use newer SQL Server versions, this required a manual installation.

Version 9.25 now installs SQL Server 2022 automatically.

We deliberately kept SQL Server 2014 as the default for as long as possible to give customers still using Windows 7 enough time to upgrade to Windows 10 or 11. However, as Windows 11 adoption increased, we began seeing installation issues with SQL Server 2014 that could no longer be ignored. Moving to SQL Server 2022 became unavoidable.

If you are already running SQL Server 2014, there is no need to change anything. ROBOTILL will continue to work as before. When you eventually replace your server, the new installation will automatically use SQL Server 2022.

End of Windows 7 Support

Windows 7 is no longer supported by ROBOTILL.

While this has been clearly stated in our minimum system requirements for some time, it was still technically possible—though increasingly difficult—to run older versions of ROBOTILL on Windows 7. With version 9.25, this is no longer possible.

This change allows us to move forward with modern, supported technologies and provide a more stable and secure system for all users.
