Custom Orders - Build Your Own Pizza

Custom orders (custom stock items) will be items like 'Build Your Own Pizza' where you allow the customer to choose his own toppings.

The Restaurant Software Module allows you to add notes to items. These notes are great to let the kitchen know how a steak should be cooked as the instructions are only printed on the orders slips. The notes however will not work for custom orders as you want the order total to be adjusted depending on what custom toppings the customer chooses. For a 'custom order' it would be better to add items (toppings) as stock items.

By default, ROBOTILL will not add another item to the order if the order already has that item. Instead it will increase the quantity of the item that is already in the order. The reason for this is to reduce the amount of till slip paper that is used.

If you are working with custom orders, this feature is however not ideal as you would like to keep the items separate. You would for example want to see for each pizza that is ordered, what items is selected for that pizza (on the order slip that the kitchen get and the customer till slip).

To turn this feature (that increase the quantity instead of adding another item) off, go to Manager > Setup > General Configuration.

Un-check the the option that says 'Increase the Qty instead of adding a new item'. Click on 'Update General Settings' and reopen the POS Modules.

The option to deselect this feature is only available in version 4.22 of ROBOTILL that can be downloaded from www.robotill.com

Upgrading to ROBOTILL Version 8

The ROBOTILL Version 8 release is a major release. If you are upgrading from ROBOTILL Version 7 (or earlier versions) to version 8 please take note of the following:

Normally you don't need new licence keys when upgrading, but we made some changes to our licencing system. You will need to follow the new registration instructions to get new keys (no need to pay again). We should email the new keys withing an hour or two (but allow for up to 8 hours). For this reason we suggest you do the upgrade after close of business so that you will have the new keys before you start working again. In version 8 you no longer log into the POS apps using a username and password. Usernames and passwords is used for ROBOTILL Manager and ROBOTILL Branch. For the POS Apps you now use a user PIN. With a new install the default pin is 12345. POS System with Cloud Database

ROBOTILL is a Point of Sale System that comes with a SQL Server database that can be installed as a stand-alone system (one computer) or on a local network with multiple computers (POS Points and Back Office computers). Now, with ROBOTILL Version 5.5, you can also connect to a database server in the cloud like Microsoft SQL Azure.

Advantages of using a database in the cloud:
You don't need to setup a local network to connect all your till points and back office computers.Distance between points is not an issue as you connect over the internet and not through a local network. You can manage and monitor your shop or restaurant from home (or any location).
Things to keep in mind (disadvantages): All your POS Points (tills) and back office computers will need an Internet connection.Your Internet connection will need to be fast and stable as you will not be able to work if the connection goes down. The performance (speed) of ROBOTILL can go down depending on your Internet connection spee…
