Setting up a kitchen printer


ROBOTILL allows you to set up department printers. An example of a department printer would be the kitchen printer.

You can have multiple department printers, for example:

  • Kitchen Printer
  • Bar Printer
  • Pizza Printer
  • etc.
In the Restaurant module, if the waiter clicks on 'Order' an order slip will be printed to each department. Each order slip for each department will only contain the items that needs to be prepared by that specific department. For example the food items will go to the kitchen department while the drink items will go to the bar department.

More items can be added to the sale and only the new items will be printed to the department printers to prevent duplication (a full order can be resubmitted if needed).

In the retail module department printers can also be used. Examples would be:
  • Storage Room - An order slip can be printed to the storage room to notify the storage room personnel to retrieve a specific item for a sale.
  • Take-out - If your retail store as a take-out section the retail module can also print orders to the kitchen in the same way the restaurant module does.

Change VAT but keep original prices

In a previous article we explained how easy it is to do the VAT change from 14% to 15% in South Africa if you are using the ROBOTILL Point of Sale System. We have received a couple of requests from customers that want to change the VAT, but keep the original price including VAT the same. This article explains how to do this.

If you want to change your VAT from 14% to 15% but keep your Price Including Tax the same - with other words you want to decrease your base price so that customers pay the same price as before, then follow these steps:

Step 1: Change VAT from 14% to 15% - click here to see how Your prices will not be slightly higher. Your product prices did not change, but as your VAT increased with 1%, your prices including tax went up.

POS Themes and Button Colours

In ROBOTILL version 7 you can now choose different colour (or color depending where you are from) themes for your point of sale modules. You can also customize these themes and select colours for product buttons and custom buttons for easier and quicker selection by cashiers and waiters.
